Fixed-Income Products
Options where you generally earn interest on what you invest — for regular income and added stability in your portfolio.
Overview
Steady income, clearly understood.
Fixed-income investments pay you interest on the money you invest, usually at a pre-defined rate and for a set period. They can provide regular income and add stability to a portfolio that also holds equities.
“Fixed” refers to the payment terms — not to safety. Returns and the return of your capital depend on the issuer, interest rates and how long you stay invested. We help you match each option to your income needs, investment period and comfort with risk.
Three risks to understand
Credit risk
The issuer may delay or fail to pay interest or principal. Ratings help, but are not guarantees.
Interest-rate risk
When rates rise, the market price of existing bonds usually falls — this matters if you sell before maturity.
Liquidity risk
Some instruments trade thinly, so selling early may be slow or only possible at a discount.

FAQ
Questions investors often ask.
Can’t find your answer here? Our team will walk you through it.
01Are fixed-income returns guaranteed?
Not always. The interest rate is usually fixed, but payment depends on the issuer’s ability to pay. Government securities carry the lowest credit risk; corporate NCDs, bonds and FDs carry more, which is why they typically pay higher rates.
02What do credit ratings tell me?
Ratings such as AAA or AA are an agency’s opinion of how likely the issuer is to pay on time. Higher ratings usually mean lower risk and lower interest. Ratings can change during the life of an investment.
03Can I sell before maturity?
Listed NCDs, bonds and T-Bills can be sold on the market, but the price may be lower than what you paid, especially if interest rates have risen. Corporate FDs may allow premature withdrawal with a penalty.
04How is the interest taxed?
Interest is generally added to your income and taxed at your slab rate. Gains on selling listed instruments may be taxed as capital gains. Please consult your tax advisor for your situation.
Returns, payment terms, and capital protection vary by product. Corporate bonds and NCDs can carry credit risk, and returns are not always guaranteed.
